Built-in Encoder - Turn Key Linear Motion Systems
The PBA Systems SM Series Shaft Motor was designed for dynamic low force applications and is especially useful for Z-axis applications. In typical linear motor applications, the use of optical encoder and scale will produce high repeatability and high accuracy motions. However, the cost of these encoders is comparable to the cost of the small motor used. A cheaper alternative would be the SM Shaft Motor.
The SM Shaft Motor has a high repeatability of up to +/- 15 microns for position feedback, with an accuracy of up to 1mm, which is acceptable in most Z-axis applications.
